Celebrating 20 Years In Business
The year 2018 sees SHMS celebrating 20 years in business! Now employing eight members of staff, the business has grown exponentially across recent years with some very exciting changes in the pipeline.
From Garage To Growth
After spending several years working in the industry while gaining his ACCA professional qualification, Director Stephen Humphreys then set up SHMS Accountancy and Business Advisory Practice in the late 1990s (1998, to be precise) and the company has gone from strength to strength since.
Starting out by working from his garage with just a few clients, word spread, more clients came on board and soon his first member of staff (Practice Manager Mandi) joined.
What Stephen Has To Say
“When we outgrew the garage, and my wife was fed up with clients having to walk through the house to get to the garage, we moved to a house with garden access to a purpose-built log cabin. With the larger office we employed Natasha, Natalie (Stephen’s better half) and Steff as well,” says Stephen.

“We outgrew the log cabin back in 2009 and moved to even larger offices in Botley Road. Here we stayed for three years before outgrowing that location too! Then we moved to our current location at 4 Talisman Business Centre in Park Gate.
“Since moving to our current premises, we’ve also employed Rhiannon and Kim to help the smooth running of SHMS Accountants.”

“We are planning to continue to grow and provide a first class accounting and business advisory service to our growing list of clients. This also includes a further two more new employees starting in the next couple of months.
